Sunday Arts and Crafts #3

Hello sunshine!  I am on Spring Break which means my 50-hour week (count it: 32 work, 14 school, 4 ballet) is now a ZERO-hour week.  And that means Saturday morning pancakes, and a long Saturday in the sun away from my computer, which is why nothing got posted yesterday. But I am back in the bloggin’ saddle, and I have something fun and easy to share with you.

Today on Sunday Arts and Crafts, we will be performing a bit of surgery… T Shirt Surgery that is.  I don’t know about you, but somehow MyJo and I have become the owners of waaaay too many tshirts.  And girls in boxy, manly t shirts are not too cute.  So why not alter those Ts into something awesome… today: a mens T shirt into a casual mini skirt with pockets.

Vegan Agave Nectar Cupcakes

I was having a bit of trouble last night concentrating on my giant research proposal that was due this morning, so I did the practical thing and whipped up a batch of those agave nectar cupcakes Jenna shared yesterday… and they are most definitely crazy good and nearly guiltless.  I threw together a vegan faux butter cream using my imagination and the ingredients I bought for the cupcakes, and topped those little guys with it.

Cupcakes and Cocktails, Part 1 of 5

Hello!  I’m a bit more cheerful this morning and am excited to share the first cupcake of a five part series I am calling Cupcakes and Cocktails.  The theory here is taking delicious cocktails, and trying to recreate the flavor combinations into tasty cupcakes.  I’ve come up with all the recipes in this series myself, although much credit should go to MyJo–  flavor investigator extraordinaire.

This evening my family lost someone very special.  So, even though earlier today MyJo and I had a fantastic cupcake adventure, I really only feel like writing about one of the best breakfast-for-dinner comfort foods: Box Pancakes For One.

I have heard this pronounced every way possible, but the way I say it is “co kuh vee” with the emphasis on the “co.” But my family just calls it Goopy Chicken and you are welcome to do the same.

This is the first step in making alfajores which are a South American treat consisting of two sweet, flakey cookies smooshed together with a dulce de leche filling.  These little sammies are so delightful they are actually Argentina’s official National Cookie.
