Naked Baker on Facebook

Hey ya’ll! There’s a Naked Baker page on Facebook where I post some extra love now and again.  Next time you’re stalking old friends (nemeses?) or wasting time at work (not that I do either of those things…) come by and check it out.  Or just click here and then click that you “like” it.  Every “like” will increase my self esteem greatly, and with bikini season almost upon us I can use all of the self esteem I can get! I’m not here to share any ridiculous body issues with the world, but I’ll tell ya: baking your heart out often means eating your heart out and that can have its consequences!

Love you guys!

My Inspiration

Hello again, great wide open… is anyone out there?  Maybe?  Well, I guess here goes… a post celebrating all the lovely blogs that have made me a better-than-average-but-still-not-quite-amazing baker, and that have opened my eyes to the big ol’ blogosphere.

Before I became an official blog writer (yesterday) I was a pretty dedicated reader.  So I thought I’d start by sharing the best blogs in my Google Reader with you, for it is to their collective credit (or it is their collective fault…) that I am here starting my own.  I think all of these sites are full of awesome content and are written with awesome personality, and I will be reposting lots of recipes from these and other blogs.

First, Bakerella.  This lady is seriously awesome.  Wait, am I saying “awesome” too much?  Sorry, I’m just getting a little excited writing about this.  Anyway, there are tons of reasons to check this site out, but if you’re ever looking for the perfect theme treat for holidays or other occasions, she’s got you covered.  I mean Superbowl cupcakes?  Academy award cookies?  Oh, and don’t get me started on her cake pops…  maybe if I can ever master the skill of putting cake on sticks and decorating them until they are just stupid-cute, I’ll give a tutorial.  Until then, I’ll leave you with this.  Easter basket, anyone?

Up next:  EatMakeRead.  I love that this writer doesn’t just do the sweet stuff, she throws in lots of savory and snacky goodies, and links to some really good reading material.  Also, the writer has started her own mag called Remedy Quarterly.  The second issue just came out, so hurry up and go peep it.  And I almost forgot, this blog does cocktail recipes.  Good ones.  Often.  Rad.

Smitten Kitchen is one of my very, very, very favorites.  Love how this lady writes.  And cooks.  And she takes damn good photos.  You will definitely be seeing some recipes adapted (or just unashamedly copied) from her on this site… seriously every single thing I’ve made from her posts has been better than insanely good.  Hmmm maybe this St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake will be making an appearance soon.  Oops, just drooled on my keyboard a little.

And finally, the rustic blog goddess, Pioneer Woman.  Read her blog! Read her whole website! Not just the cooking part… all of it (it’s huge and full of awesomeness).  And then go buy her book.  Ok, I think I might want to clarify right now that I’m not paid to gush about these things… like I said, I’m just stoked on blogs today.  Anyway, the first recipe I share with you will be from the Pioneer Woman, and here’s a sneak peak.  Yom.

So now that I’ve told you about all of these fabulous blogs, I’m sure you’ll go explore them and never return.  But if you do make it back out of the recipe archives alive, and find your way back to my little spot, there will be something sweet and fried and puffy and covered in sugary goo waiting for you!

Until next time!
